What Language Do You Speak? Productions and BlackPoet Ventures bring you two exhilarating and inspiring events during National Arts & Humanities Month featuring the legendary and controversial writer and poet Amiri Baraka.
Both companies join forces to focus on and build for youth literacy through the art of poetry and spoken word. This is a debut event for the new literary arts company What Language Do You Speak? Productions and the kickoff to BlackPoet Ventures' seventh performance arts season.
Blues People: A Tribute To Amiri
BlackPoet Ventures opens the set with a special brunch tribute performance as part of its BioRhythMic Series. The event will feature the words and poetry of Amiri Baraka set to the backdrop of a journey in American music.
An Evening WIth Amiri Baraka
What Language Do You Speak? Productions hosts an intimate black party as we share an evening with Amiri Baraka at the elegant 934 located in south Phoenix. Honoring the living legend are Valley poets Fatimah Halim, Shaikh Sammad, Habibullah Saleem, Fathiyyah Bashshar, Phonetic Spit Teen Poetry Squad and BlackPoet Ventures. Catered by Dee Dee Did It.
Both events are free and open to the public but you must register your attendance.
Donations are welcome and will be accepted at the events.

What Language Do You Speak? Productions is a company designed to promote literacy through the arts. This is based on the conviction that every person has the ability to read and express themselves through poetry and the arts.
